Magic: The Gathering started out around Portland, Oregon in 1992 with a man named Richard Garfield, when he started a card game based on the premise of everyone playing with their unique self-assembled decks. The first release of cards, called simply “Alpha,” was wildly popular, and today the game still continues to be a big hit with gamers all over, celebrating its 13th year of life.
The game itself is strategic and turn-based, and it draws its art and inspiration from the natural world. There are five basic colors (White, Blue, Green, Red, and Black), and they each have their own battle strategy associated with them.
